SPATULA PATINATEDBRONZE FINISH M 422
The surface finish is obtained from a first application of thick acrylic primer with quartz powder applied by roller. This is followed by the spatula application of a mixture of micronized brass powder and water based acrylic aggregates. The finished product possesses characteristics very similar to those of metal. The application process is completely manual and obtained through the use of a spatula. Consequently, any differences in the colouring or any lack of homogeneity should not be seen as defects, but as particular features of the finish. The surface is protected by a water based acrylic coating and completed with a finishing treatment of beeswax to enhance the resulting nuances.
SCULPTURAL MIRROR WHICH TELLS A STORY THROUGH REFLECTIONS
Andrea Mancuso's poetic style based around playfulness and surprise is at the heart of Oculus, a wall mirror that goes far beyond the boundaries of its main function. Almost sculptural in its design, this mirror will leave you open-mouthed. The evocative, circular frame encloses a circular mirror inside, yet the reflection varies depending on your point of view, creating a hypnotic effect. Named after the Latin word Oculus, which referred to a circular opening similar to an eye.
DESIGNER - ANDREA MANCUSO
Designer with experience in projects ranging from product design to site-specific installations, after studying at La Sapienza University in Rome, Andrea Mancuso worked for five years in London at the studio of Nigel Coates. During his time there he developed an experimental approach which is at the heart of the reaseach by Analogia Project, studio founded in Milan with Emilia Serra in 2012. The work of the studio is based on exploring daily activities and making them extraordinary; starting from entities that are normally taken for granted, their projects take on a narrative approach and every project becomes a reason to tell a story. The various designs by Analogia Project have been published worldwide, exhibited in the most important design fairs with numerous and prestigious collaborations with brands ranging from design to art and fashion. Since 2017, Mancuso teaches at the Master in Interior Design at the NABA in Milan. His collaboration with Lema began in 2019 with the Oculus Mirror. The Oculus sculpture-mirror has an enigmatic presence which draws you in. Centred around a design approach which looks for its inspiration in the day-to-day, Oculus will leave you shocked and surprised.
