NERA LANA RUGS

NERA LANA RUGS

Designed By Barbara Hosak

Nena Lana is hand woven with pure wool both in the weft and the warp, which makes it possible to end the rug with black wool fringes from the original warp.

Kateha Nera Lana Rugs

The weft consists to a large part of felted wool, that contributes to give the rug its contemporary structure. The wild and crasy fringes are not sewn, nor glued onto, but are the endings of the original black wool warp. Thus one could say that Nera Lana is a real authentic rug – and it is reversible!

STAIN REMOVAL

Kateha recommends Clean Kit. Clean Kit is a stain remover that can deal with wet or dry stains. It is effective on carpets and furnishing fabrics, and it is gentle and easy to use. Clean Kit was initially developed for use involving strict cleanliness requirements, such as in hospitals. Clean Kit complies with EU regulations and does not contain any hazardous bleaching agents or chemical substances. See more at Clean Kit.

OTHER INFORMATION

- Size variations for handmade rugs +/-5%
We use renewable natural materials. Dye lot and yarn batch variations may occur.
Traditionally, wool rugs have been woven on linen warp. We have chosen to weave on linen warp for stability and better durability.
We recommend rug underlay (anti-slip): For reduced wear, improved comfort, non-slip properties and easier vacuuming.

CARE FOR YOUR RUG

How long your rug will last depends very much on how you care for it. A rug that is properly looked after will give many years of pleasure. Rotate your rug occasionally, so that it will wear evenly over the whole surface. A woven rug can be turned over as well as rotated, and can therefore be used in four different ways. A pile rug can be rotated and used in two different ways. Use underlay to reduce wear and tear and to improve comfort (read more at Antislip). Underlay also has excellent non-slip properties for all types of rugs. Do not worry if your rug sheds its pile in the beginning.

This is very common during the first period of use. Frequently vacuuming will shorten this period of shedding. A wool rug needs very little attention. All that has to be done for it to retain its appearance of the years is to follow three basic rules

DESIGNER

BARBARA HOSAK

Barbara Hosak is the seventh generation of a textile family, with fabrics and rugs woven firmly into her genes. When Barbara’s father Hans Hosak was growing up, there were 80 textile factories on 80,000 inhabitants. The German-speaking Hosak family was driven out of the country after the Second World War but, thanks to Barbara’s grandfather’s textile and technical expertise, they were welcomed in Denmark.

In addition, Hans’s complex textile knowledge resulted in him working in eleven different textile factories in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway and Sweden, before he started up Brokmatt Design over 40 years ago.

In her youth, Barbara worked with and was very fascinated in textiles. She worked in the field of advertising in Germany for more than ten years before finally landing in Värnamo and starting to work with rugs.

My vision, after a few years, was to establish a new brand that would represent quality and design. And that’s what happened! Kateha was founded in 1998 and I have consciously strived to be at the forefront with design, sustainability and quality. and with continuous development.” A work that has resulted in recognition and awards.

For Barbara, sustainability workign with natural materials and social responsibility are important when working with suppliers in countryside India. Creating job opportunities under favourable conditions.

The company also has a commitment not only to put resources into the workplaces but also into the life outside of workplace, for example schools run together with Kateha’s Indian partner. ”I believe that a long-term, fruitful cooperation is created on the basis of good relations where ‘soft values’ matters.”
