Artek Kiila Coat Stand
KIILA COAT STAND
KIILA COAT STAND
Composed of three wood legs and the signature Kiila wedge, the Kiila Coat Stand is simple and sturdy. Inspired by the camera tripod on which designer Daniel Rybakken used to hang his coats, it has a low centre of gravity and can accommodate serious weight without tipping over.
Like all pieces in the line, its construction has been made transparent: the wedge-shaped metal joint has been left purposely visible, a smooth powder-coated contrast to the solid ash legs.
Robust yet elegant, the Coat Stand provides practical storage for jackets, bags, and other items, even in the smallest room.
"There is a very apparent logic to the Kiila series and I recognize this in Alvar Aalto’s designs too. These are products designed within the parameters of industrial manufacture, they are intended to be part of a system that can be repeated."
DESIGNER
DANIEL RYBAKKEN
Daniel Rybakken (born 1984) is a talented Norwegian designer based in Sweden, who has spent the early years of his career focusing on lighting design.
Applying himself to the study and replication of natural daylight, Rybakken creates poetic products and installations.
Whose subtlety contradicts the rigorous approach to technology and engineering that goes into their making. Rybakken thus shares Artek’s fundamental interest in bringing together the realms of art and technology.
The first collaboration between Artek and Rybakken marked Rybakken’s very first furniture commission.
