ClassiCon Saturn Coat Stand
Saturn Coat Stand
SATURN COAT STAND
Barber Osgerby
Saturn is such a sculptural, cheerfully dancing object, you’ll hate to hide it under a bunch of coats.
But Saturn by all means makes a perfect, if unusual, coat stand. Its generous wooden arches provide the ideal place to hang coats and jackets or perhaps a cap.
Saturn is also equipped to handle formal occasions with grace: on every arch are two metal hooks to hang coats the conventional way on hangers. Whichever way you prefer – you have an eye-catching coat stand at your service.
The arcs of this wardrobe stand present harmonious curves; it is so beautiful, however, that we enjoy seeing it empty the most.
DESIGNER
EDWARD BARBER AND JAY OSGERBY - BARBER OSGERBY
1969
Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby studied architecture at the Royal College of Art in London. Their collaboration started while they were still in school. In 1996, they founded the design studio Barber Osgerby.
Their first piece, the Loop Table, was much-acclaimed and is part of the collections of the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the V&A Museum in London. Many successful products for renowned companies followed; their cooperation with ClassiCon began in 2004.
In addition to their first company, the two designers founded another design studio in London: today, “Universal” is considered one of the most innovative design consulting agencies for architecture, interiors and exhibition design in the world.
Whether in furniture, industrial design or architecture, Barber Osgerby represent the philosophy of interaction design – their key question is directed toward the best-possible interactive relationship between user and object. The Royal Society of Arts awarded them the title Royal Designer for Industry in 2013.
After graduating, she returned to her home town of Paris in 2008 and opened her first design studio, where she created designs for the Tools Gallery in Paris and works for her first solo show in 2009 in the Brussels Gallery Pierre Bergé et Associés.
