PAYSAGE AU SOLEIL CORRIDOR CARPET - SKY BLUE & OLIVE GREEN

Designer : Cristina Celestino

Thanks to its long and straight shape, the Paysage au soleil long hallway runner is able to embellish any interior, whether it be a corridor, hallway or even the most regularly used rooms like a living room. The sky blue and olive green Paysage au soleil long hallway runner is the result of a creative collaboration between Italian designer Cristina Celestino and Maison Matisse.

DETAIL

ARTS AND MATERIALS

Composed of graphic patterns featuring organic and geometric shapes, its subtle combination of sky blue and olive green render it easily adaptable to a variety of settings. This long hallway runner is handmade in silk and Himalayan wool, known for its exceptional durability, the piece has been hand-knotted in cc-tapis' workshops in Nepal.

Our long hallway runners are hand-knotted by Tibetan artisans. The Maison Matisse long hallway runners have 125,000 individual knots per meter squared, hand knotting is an extremely delicate and complex production technique that offers an exceptional quality to our carpets. .

The wool is sourced from sheep in the Tibetan Himalayas, and the silk we use is imported from China and sourced directly from silkworms

Cristina Celestina drew her inspiration for this carpet's color palette from Henri Matisse's Intérieur aux Aubergines painting (1911), perfectly developed by the "Master of color".

INSPIRATION

DETAIL

Cristina Celestino was inspired by one specific detail of the Intérieur aux Aubergines painting (1911): the open window looking out to the countryside, seen on the right hand side of the painting.

This window reveals a landscape of superimposed color strips that are then reflected in Cristina Celestino's creation. This external view represents a painting within a painting, by which Henri Matisse connects the interior with the exterior. This theme is taken up by Cristina Celestino in her interpretation of the painting and in the Intérieur aux Aubergines interior design furniture and accessory collection.
