Its touches of bright colors will intensify the character of a room by adding warmth, cheerfulness and uniqueness.
DESIGNER
MARTA BAKOWSKI
Born in Paris in 1986, Marta Bakowski studied design at Central Saint Martins College before completing her degree with the Royal College of Arts.
Two years spent alongside Hella Jongerius capped off her training, leading the young designer to establish her own studio in 2013 in Paris.
Her collaborations include: La Chance, Ligne Roset as well as Roche Bobois.
For Maison Matisse, Marta Bakowski imagines in 2020 a collection entitled La Musique, inspired by the eponymous painting by Henri Matisse in 1939, composed of ceramic tableware pieces hand painted in Italy.
Plates, dishes, carafes, jugs, so many pieces with a strong character, taking up the iconic symbols of the painter's work: the philodendron leaf, the face and silhouette of a woman, the grid, etc.

DETAIL
ARTS AND MATERIALS
The same Italian family workshop is responsible for creating all our ceramic pieces designed by Marta Bakowski. Thanks to their ancestral know-how handed down from generation to generation, the artisans behind the Canon bottle have used their knowledge of ceramics to create unique, timeless pieces.
The Canon bottle is molded by hand to give it its full, curved shape. The decorative design was applied by hand using the "spolvero" technique, which enables the expert hands of the master decorator to trace the outlines before applying the paint.
The Canon bottle is bright and generous: its round shapes call for celebration and shared pleasure, and its lively color palette is inspired by Henri Matisse's painting La Musique. Her desire was to transmit the painter's love for music, a passion that never left him until it became an integral part of his work, an essential component of his panting experience, day after day, like a musician tirelessly repeating his score
INSPIRATION
Inspired by Henri Matisse's "La Musique" painted in 1939, the Canon bottle uses pictorial features from the masterpiece. Its symbolic shape reflects the curves of the guitar in the painting. The work was approached from the design point of view on three inseparable levels: the decoration and its color, the shape, and the choice of materials. These elements form the DNA of each object.
