CADENCE VASE
CADENCE VASE
Designed By Marta Bakowski
The Cadence vase is the work of the Studio Maison Matisse, and is part of the La Musique collection initially conceived in collaboration with the designer Marta Bakowski.
A must-have object in all of our scenographies, the vase is an ideal way to bring cheerfulness and colors to our interiors.
Flowered, it enhances the character of a room, or is enough to itself as a decorative object to place at home according to your desires.
Available in 3 colors from the palette of Henri Matisse's work La Musique, the Cadence vase can accommodate a wide variety of flower arrangements, and offers a personal reinterpretation of the forms present in the painting.
DESIGNER
MARTA BAKOWSKI
Born in Paris in 1986, Marta Bakowski studied design at Central Saint Martins College before completing her degree with the Royal College of Arts.
Two years spent alongside Hella Jongerius capped off her training, leading the young designer to establish her own studio in 2013 in Paris. Her collaborations include: La Chance, Ligne Roset as well as Roche Bobois.
For Maison Matisse, Marta Bakowski imagines in 2020 a collection entitled La Musique, inspired by the eponymous painting by Henri Matisse in 1939, composed of ceramic tableware pieces hand painted in Italy.
Plates, dishes, carafes, jugs, so many pieces with a strong character, taking up the iconic symbols of the painter's work: the philodendron leaf, the face and silhouette of a woman, the grid, etc.

DETAIL
ARTS AND MATERIALS
The Cadence vase has been entirely handmade in a traditional factory in Tuscany where ceramic know-how has been passed on since 1921. First, each piece is turned by hand. Then, the exterior is painted and the craftsman comes to meticulously engrave the patterns on the surface with a specific tool using the Spolvero technique. Thus, the design comes to life on the material.
Then, the interior of the vase is painted and a first firing is done before applying a matte finish and a glossy varnish to obtain a contrast between the interior and exterior. Finally, a second firing ensures that the colors are well fixed. This unique piece coordinates perfectly with the other pieces in the La Musique collection, allowing you to combine them as you wish.
INSPIRATION
The Cadence vase is inspired by the painting La Musique by Henri Matisse (1939). Designed by the Maison Matisse studio, it completes the La Musique collection first developed in collaboration with Marta Bakowski. The aesthetics of this vase is a play between full forms and straight lines, cut to the point, echoing the painting.
One recognizes the roundness of the forms there but also, in contrast, the detail of the base of the meridian. These pure forms married to the bold and surprising colors taken from the work of the painter, evoke the joy of living and optimism. The Cadence vase is only waiting to be filled with a generous bouquet to bring cheerfulness and optimism to your home.
