he date had gone pretty damn good and now she was in his hallway. She immediately regretted her decision. Coats and jackets, old sneakers, sweaty workout clothes and a fallen over golf bag crowded the hallway floor.

She was just about to make up an excuse, turn around and leave, when she noticed something on the wall. There was, what looked to be, a clothes hanger. But not any old clothes hanger. No. It looked eerily familiar.

She noticed that the hook was made of metal wire, and it had six birch buds (or was it ash?) that looked like the perfect way to store favorite garments in a smaller place. Why the man didn’t actually make use of it, she had no idea.

“The wooden knobs” she thought “must be made of sustainable forestry, and the metal parts looks to be made of 100% recycled metal in Småland, Sweden.”

She also saw that both the stain and the lacquer was water based. “That’s good for the planet”, she thought. “This guy obviously has taste”. This was the sign she needed.

She took of her high heel shoes and proceeded to move through the hallway, criss crossing over the rubble, towards the bedroom. After she had left the morning after, she realized what she couldn’t quite place the night before.

The clothes hanger was part of the Bill Collection, available in several bigger and smaller versions, to fit basically everyone’s needs. She never met the man again. But she would forever cherish the memory of that Bill XS on his hallway wall.

DESIGNER

LOUISE HEDERSTRÖM

Louise is a designer with a fantastic design mindset whose designs are shaped and inspired by the surroundings she finds herself in. She always focuses on the practical but at the same time beautiful solutions where e.g. the Bill series, the products Frank and Minnie Mae are clear examples.

She is educated at Beckmans School of Design in Stockholm and has also studied at Lund University. Louise is greatly inspired by nature but also by her visits to factories where she encounters various manufacturing materials and techniques.

She works exclusively with companies that have a high profile both in terms of design and sustainability – a holistic view is important in every step of the process. She seeks innovative design that combines form with function.

"It is important to design and create products that are practical but at the same time attractive and stand the test of time," says Louise. Maze and Louise have had a close collaboration for 20 years and Louise is an important part of Maze's success.
