Casalis Vlas Carpet
VLAS CARPET
VLAS CARPET
Designed by Anita Kars
Vlas award winning carpet collection honours Casalis’ hometown, Kortrijk, a Belgian city located on the banks of the river De Leie saturated with a rich history in the linen and flax manufacturing industry.
This new collection of rugs is tufted in a unique blend of durable materials: Belgian linen and wool yarns to provide a warm and lustre surface.
Naturally toned linen and wool in multiple colours, dyed using sprinkling technique, give the carpet an elegant and sophisticated look.

SPECIFIC MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
-Vacuum cleaner: In the beginning, the carpet will lose very few fibres. Use the vacuum cleaner regularly to remove loose fibres. -Cleaning instructions: Available under downloads of Sjette on our website. -How will the carpet age? Changes in aspect of textile floor covering by means of the Hexapod tumbler test. -Test results: see details of the durability test under downloads. -Conclusion: The results are rated with scale 1-5: 1 means a strong and 5 means no difference compared to an untreated carpet. After 12000 cycles (long term): - The assessment of aspectloss rates 4 out of 5. ` -The assessment of colour rates 3,5 out of 5. This means that the carpet is suitable for the busiest places in the home. -Carpet in combination with underfloor heating: If the carpet is used in combination with underfloor heating it is advisable to moisten it with a plant spray at regular intervals to avoid dehydration. The carpet will look fresher and will be less fluffy. -Can sunlight fade the carpet? Sjette is fairly lightfast. nevertheless, it is better not to expose carpets to direct sunlight. -What is a spark of fire hits the carpet? The flame won't spread far and is no danger to other surrounding objects. however, a spark will leave an ugly burn mark on the carpet. always be careful with fire and screen your carpet from the open fire. -How visible are imprints of e.g? chair or tabel legs? Imprints are limited. imprinted piles spring back up by moistening the wool and letting it dry in peace. nevertheless we recommend the use of carpet protectors.
SPECIFIC USER INSTRUCTIONS
AGEING
All objects are subject to ageing, as are carpets. Turning the carpet at regular intervals ensures even ageing.
FLUFFING
The Vlas carpet is made of wool loops and cut linen. The wool loops do not give any fluffing. The cut linen will only fluff very little as the linen fibres are very long, causing very few fibres to escape from the carpet.
UNDERLAY
If there are no heavy objects on the carpet, an underlay will prevent the carpet from moving.
DEVIATIONS IN SIZE
Casalis carpets are hand made. Shape and size can differ slightly. Don't have your carpet lined up with any straight seams in the floor, but have the carpet cover them, so that any irregularities are not noticed.
DISCOLOURING OF THE SUBFLOOR
The back of the carpet has no influence on the floor underneath.
RECEIPT OF NEW CARPET
Upon receipt of the new carpet, immediately remove it from the plastic wrapping in order to avoid the formation of moisture and mould.
USE AS WALL-TO-WALL CARPET
The Vlas quality can also be used as a wall-to-wall carpet. In that case, the carpet will be made in the shape of the surface of the floor with a little extra on the sides allowing it to be cut to size once in situ. Next, the carpet is glued to the floor or stretched between the walls. Stretching has the advantage that the carpet can be taken out again in a simple way. Ask a professional interior decorator which method is best suited to the room in question
CRAFT & MATERIAL
HAND TUFTING
It's 01:33 PM in India
Manual tufting forms an efficient alternative to manual knotting. With the help of a handgun, the tufter shoots the yarn with a great deal of skill pile line by pile line until a carpet is formed. Due to its enormous flexibility, the technique allows for the production of true works of art.
BELGIAN LINEN
'Vlas' or Flax is the plant from which linen is obtained. It's part of our Belgian culture as it grows and is harvested for centuries in our Flemish countryside. The material is sustainable and shines. From the great desire to work with linen, we have taken up the challenge to develop a carpet where all the positive properties of Belgian linen are addressed.
NEW ZEALAND WOOL
Out of all the different wools, New Zealand wool is praised to be the whitest, allowing for a broader range of colour after dyeing. It is a blend of Merino and Down breeds who are specially selected for their comfort, strength, and performance. The wool is grown and processed in both New Zealand and Australia.
