Casalis Opera Carpet
OPERA CARPET
The design was inspired by the seats in the leading theaters and opera houses of the world. Mohair was often used in these because of the shine and natural strength of the wool.
The authentic look is highly attractive in the velvet variant to the version with the luxurious fur-like surface. Suitable for use as a wall-to-wall carpet.
INFORMATION
DESIGNS
The Buffo-collection does not contain standard designs, but designs are possible using different colour areas.
CHILD LABOUR
The production of casalis-carpets is carried out without the use of child labour.
BACK
Mohair, or mohair and new-Zealand wool.
STRUCTURE BACK
hand-knotted back
PRODUCTION METHOD
Hand-knotted.
DISCOLOURING OF THE SUBFLOOR
The back of the carpet has no influence on the floor underneath.
POSSIBLE SHAPES
- Round
- Oval
- Polygonal
AGEING OF THE CARPET
All objects are subject to ageing, as are carpets. Turning the carpet at regular intervals ensures even ageing.
FINISH
On the longer side a very fine edging in mohair. On the shorter sides a thicker edging in new-zealand wool.
FLUFFING
In the beginning, all carpets of spun pile will lose some fibres. This is inherent to spun yarn and should reduce in time. Fluffing will last on average between 6 to 24 months, depending on user intensity (walking on, vacuum cleaning). Opera loop is not fluffy at all.
NON STANDARD COLOURS
- Based on our colour reference boxes.
- Based on a reference sample (e.g. piece of fabric).
- Size of the samples available: 18 x 38 cm. colour sample.
UNDERLAY
If there are no heavy objects on the carpet, an underlay will prevent the carpet from moving.
DEVIATIONS TO SIZE AND SHAPE
Casalis carpets are hand made. Shape and size can differ slightly. Therefore don't have the edges of the carpet lined up with any straight seams in the floor, but have the carpet cover them, so that any irregularities are not noticed.
RECEIPT OF NEW CARPET
Upon receipt of the new carpet, immediately remove it from the plastic wrapping in order to avoid the formation of moisture and mould.
USE AS WALL-TO-WALL CARPET
- The Buffo-quality can also be used as a wall-to-wall carpet. In that case, the carpet will be made in the shape of the surface of the floor with a little extra on the sides allowing it to be cut to size once in situ. To avoid fraying, the cut edges need to be glued down. A simple solution is to latex the entire carpet.
- Next, the carpet is glued to the floor or stretched between the walls. Stretching has the advantage that the carpet can be taken out again in a simple way. Ask a professional interior decorator which method is best suited to the room in question.
DESIGNERB - LISET VAN DER SCHEER
After graduating from the Design Academy in Eindhoven she has been working as an independent industrial textile designer and colour expert. 'The importance of designing to me lies in marketing a product that adds to the identity that the consumer wishes to convey at a particular moment in time. In my designs, the challenge lies in applying traditional materials in an innovative way, or in applying new materials to an existing production process. I always try to stretch the bounds of possibility. Looking at colour has become my second nature, and in building designs, be it textiles or carpets, the starting point is always the expression of the yarn'.
