PELLO RUG

Designed by Liset van der Scheer

Super-soft and warm, with a unique touch.

The Pello really does get the best out of nature with a primal feel that combines ultimate comfort with animal warmth.

These qualities are owed to the hollow, heat-insulating fiber of the alpaca, the unique, natural fleece of which was the model for the authentic colours. There is no room for doubt, with the handmade Pello, you are bringing home a piece of untouched nature. Can be used as a wall-to-wall carpet.

LISET VAN DER SCHEER

After graduating from the Design Academy in Eindhoven she has been working as an independent industrial textile designer and colour expert.

'The importance of designing to me lies in marketing a product that adds to the identity that the consumer wishes to convey at a particular moment in time.

In my designs, the challenge lies in applying traditional materials in an innovative way, or in applying new materials to an existing production process. I always try to stretch the bounds of possibility.

Looking at colour has become my second nature, and in building designs, be it textiles or carpets, the starting point is always the expression of the yarn'.

DEVIATIONS TO SIZE AND SAHPE

Because Casalis carpets are made by hand, slight deviations in shape and size can occur. These imperfections are part and parcel of a carpet made by hand and consequently cannot be valid grounds for complaints.

SPECIFIC MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

- Vacuum cleaner: In the beginning, the carpet will lose fibres. Use the vacuum cleaner regularly to remove loose fibres.
- Cleaning instructions: Available under downloads of Bamboo on our website.
- Can sunlight fade the carpet? Sjette is fairly lightfast. nevertheless, it is better not to expose carpets to direct sunlight.
- How visible are imprints of e.g? chair or tabel legs? Bamboo yarn has no resilience, therefore the use of carpet protectors are absolutely necessary.

DESIGN

The Pello-collection is mostly used without design, just working with the beauty of the material and natural colours. However, two standard designs are available. Customised designs are possible on special request.

INSTRUCTIONS

AGEING

All objects are subject to ageing, as are carpets. Turning the carpet at regular intervals ensures even ageing.

FLUFFING

Because of the roughened character of the pile, the carpet will lose many fibres in the first months. After a while, the fluffing will reduce and the carpet will get a beautiful matted appearance. Fluffing will last on average between 6 to 24 months, depending on user intensity (walking on, vacuum cleaning)

UNDERLAY

If there are no heavy objects on the carpet, an underlay will prevent the carpet from moving.

DEVIATIONS IN SIZE

Casalis carpets are hand made. Shape and size can differ slightly. Don't have your carpet lined up with any straight seams in the floor, but have the carpet cover them, so that any irregularities are not noticed.

DISCOLOURING OF THE SUBFLOOR

The back of the carpet has no influence on the floor underneath.

RECEIPT OF NEW CARPET

Upon receipt of the new carpet, immediately remove it from the plastic wrapping in order to avoid the formation of moisture and mould.

USE AS WALL-TO-WALL CARPET

This quality can also be used as a wall-to-wall carpet. In that case, the carpet will be made in the shape of the surface of the floor with a little extra on the sides allowing it to be cut to size once in situ. Cut loop piles must be trimmed in order to avoid having loos yarn at the sides. Placing skirting boards can be the ideal solution here. Next, the carpet is glued to the floor or stretched between the walls. Stretching has the advantage that the carpet can be taken out again in a simple way. Ask a professional interior decorator which method is best suited to the room in question.

CRAFT & MATERIAL

ALPACA WOOL

The wool from Peruvian alpacas resembles ultimate comfort coupled with authentic colours and incredible softness.

ROBOT TUFTING

It’s 08:59 AM in Flanders

For plain colour carpets or easy designs, a robot can replace the manual work of the handtufters, increasing the uniformity of the pile density and also allowing for new techniques (3D shapes).

MIX WOOL

In some collections, materials from several sources are used to obtain a stronger yarn. Special blends from New Zealand wool and European wool ensure an optimum combination of elegant gloss, brilliant colours and a remarkable volume.
