Indian hospitality meets Italian sensibilities – the Hug Tray by Milan-based designer Valerio Sommella is the best of both worlds. The platter features a terazzo masterpiece, cradled by two curved sheets on either side.

The bold circular form and the soft curved edges make for a harmonious dance between style and practicality. More than just an accessory, it is an expression of care with a touch of creativity, and a serving of pure joy. Like love on a platter – that’s the essence of the Hug Tray.

VALERIO SOMMELLA

Valerio Sommella, an Italian industrial designer, began his creative journey in Milan, graduating with Honours from the Milan Polytechnic. In 2009, he founded Valerio Sommella Design Studio.

With work that spans multiple media platforms, he designs products ranging from lighting to furniture, from consumer electronics to accessories.

He seeks inspiration in everyday objects, with each creation telling a unique story. Over the years, he has worked with with Italian and global brands like Apple, Alessi, Moooi etc. and has been awarded several prestigious awards like the German Design Award in 2021 and the Archiproducts Design Award in 2020
