DEVELOPMENT
Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist who played a crucial role in the development of abstract art during the early 20th century. He believed that art should express the artist’s inner emotions and spiritual essence rather than copying the external world around them. This is what lead him to create work where colours and shapes interact with each other, producing a sense of movement and energy. He used bold, contrasting colours and geometric forms to convey his intense emotions provoking a powerful response from the viewer.
COMPOSITION AND CARE
The Kandinsky 1 rug is hand knotted at 100 knots per inch in 100% pure New Zealand wool by GoodWeave artisan weavers. Handmade and hard wearing, this is a washable designer rug which can also be displayed as a wall hanging.
