OMAGGIO CIRCULARE VASE ANTHRACITE GREY H31CM

Designed by Still Life V/reckweg & Nordentoft

The well-known and beloved Omaggio vase from Kähler is back in a version manufactured from leftover materials from previous productions that would otherwise have gone to waste.

Under the title Omaggio Circulare, the new, exciting choice of materials helps to give the popular vase a contemporary and forward-looking perspective with a focus on reducing the environmental impact.

The shape is as we know it with the soft, organic lines that dominate the modern Kähler classic created in collaboration with designers Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft, who together design under the name Stilleben. They designed the Omaggio vase back in 2007.

For the 2024 edition, the duo have applied their innovative approach to design and created the Omaggio Circulare, which has a completely new look with circular materials.

STILL LIFE V/RECKWEG & NORDENTOFT

The design duo Stilleben – Ditte Reckweg & Jelena Schou Nordentoft – belong to a new generation of designers who respect tradition, but also possess the boldness it takes to innovate. They both graduated in 2001 from the Danish Design School, having specialised in ceramics and glass, and together they run a web shop and the store Stilleben no. 22.

Ever since the Stilleben duo opened their first Stilleben store, they have fostered ideas that have resulted in new and modern design.

And in addition to running their own line of Stilleben designs – including tableware, posters, furniture and accessories – the duo collaborates with internationally renowned design companies such as Kähler, Skagerak and Lyngby Porcelæn.

Today, both their store and their designs are recognised worldwide, and the duo has long since become part of modern design history with the iconic Omaggio vase in 2008, which immediately became a worldwide best-seller, and later Omaggio Nuovo, which has helped define and redefine classic Danish design of our time.

It was also Stilleben that worked in partnership on the modern reinterpretation of the beautiful DAN-ILD range from Lyngby Porcelæn, where the design duo simplified and interpreted the classic blue flame and created a brand new ovenproof range with playful blue dots, vibrant stripes and distinctive zigzag patterns.

All the patterns on the dishes, bowls and gravy bowl have the same dark blue colour, contrasting beautifully with the grey-brown, glazed porcelain, which with its rustic retro-feel provides a contrast with the very modern and graphic decorations.

With the new DAN-ILD range, Stilleben has created an elegant balance between past and present, creating a design that will appeal across generations and make the range relevant for many years to come.

With their new classic designs, they have also long since proven that they can work with form and colour to create something that is both simple and completely original – something that while showing great respect for the Scandinavian design tradition, also has the fearlessness that is necessary to challenge it.

Stilleben’s redesign of the DAN-ILD range is a perfect example of how, with their playful and immediate approach to a modern colour palette combined with Lyngby Porcelain’s uncompromising quality and always visionary designs, they master the art of being both relevant in time and timeless. The functionality now is exactly the same as it was then, but with Stilleben’s help, the design has been given a modern, graphic edge that gives the range the potential to become a new, modern classic.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Like the other two vases in the series, the large 30-cm vase has a refined two-piece design with a rustic top in a natural grey that has taken its colour from the recycled materials, and a hand-painted anthracite grey that sits beautifully on the lower half of the vase, creating weight and contrast. All the pieces in the Omaggio series are designed to complement one another. Use them to create interesting and decorative displays by combining the new Omaggio Circulare vases with other Omaggio vases, flowerpots and candleholders in different sizes and colours – perhaps some without flowers, plants and candles to allow the design’s sculptural lines to speak for themselves.

DETAIL

CIRCULAR TRIBUTE

With the new Omaggio Circulare vases, which are produced using leftover materials from previous productions that would otherwise have gone to waste, Kähler embraces both nostalgia and the present moment, and welcomes three new members to the Omaggio family.

Fresh flowers and authentic design create life, positive energy and a sense of presence throughout the home. The introduction of the three new Omaggio Circulare vases gives you brand-new opportunities to combine the love of flowers, iconic ceramics and Kähler’s handmade design traditions with a desire for responsible production.

Rosendahl Omaggio Circulare Vase

Since 2007, Kähler and Omaggio have been synonymous with one another. Omaggio Circulare is nothing less than a responsibly produced reinterpretation of the modern classic.

The shape is still the classic Omaggio shape. Now, however, the manufacturing focus for the vase series is on reducing environmental impact by recycling discarded ceramics and materials from other productions – and giving them new life.

Perhaps you’ve already invited nature into your home with a bouquet of flowers or a potted plant, which has been beautifully and stylishly placed in a vase or flowerpot from the Omaggio series? The launch of the Omaggio Circulare vases in three sizes, and in the same colour combination, means that you can now enjoy Kähler’s iconic Omaggio shape with an even better conscience.

Why not take some innovative steps into responsibility with original Danish design by your side together with Kähler? The expression across the vase series has been borrowed from the archives. It presents a classic yet bold two-piece design with a raw top in natural grey, which takes its colour from recycled materials, together with a beautifully hand-painted black tone on the lower half of the vases.

The Omaggio vases are available in three different sizes. The large Circulare vase is 31 cm high and is joined by the two smaller vases, which measure 20 cm and 12.5 cm respectively. All three vases have the same black painted base and unique raw top in untreated ceramic, giving the series its unmistakable nostalgic touch. This can be traced back to Kähler’s proud craftsmanship traditions while also pointing towards the future with great confidence.

The vases share a beautiful look brimming with depth and vibrance. Even though the shape is familiar, the new material and colour combination give the Omaggio Circulare vases a completely different look, representing the responsible update of the Omaggio series, while the shape bears clear references to the originals in Kähler’s historic workshop.

All shapes in the Omaggio series are designed to complement one another, creating interesting and decorative displays when the new Omaggio Circulare vases are combined with other Omaggio vases, flowerpots and candleholders in different sizes and colours – perhaps even some without flowers, plants and lights, thus allowing the design’s sculptural lines to speak for themselves.

Like the rest of the Omaggio series, the designers behind the new Omaggio Circulare vases are Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft, who design together under the name Stilleben. They belong to a new generation of designers who respect tradition but also have the boldness it takes to revamp it.

Through the original Omaggio vases, Kähler and Stilleben wanted to create a piece with a bold attitude and hand-painted graphic stripes – a design that really stood out at the time. A vase that was a decoration in itself, with a strong presence.

Today, a vase with a bold attitude and a strong presence requires something completely different. With Omaggio Circulare, the duo is able to fully interpret Kähler’s design tradition with a contemporary and forward-looking perspective. The collection comprises three unique works of art with a unique expression of depth and vibrance that has always been a recurring design theme throughout Kähler’s proud craftsmanship traditions
