Cats are officially social creatures, however, they are also famous for their love of respite and sleep.
Designed exclusively for MiaCara by Belgian designer Mathias De Ferm, the Perla Cat Cave is a protected space for your cat to rest, and a contemporary object for your home.
The curved teardrop shape of the handcrafted cat basket gives your cat a sense of security for a relaxing nap.

MATHIAS DE FERM
Mathias De Ferm is a product and furniture designer from Antwerp, Belgium.
Collaborating with internationally renowned brands, his work includes furniture, kitchenware, barbecues and timber buildings for the outdoors. He founded his own design company in 2010.
Eager to learn more about materials and techniques, he earned additional degrees in metalwork and carpentry. Mathias studied product development at the Hogeschool Antwerpen and furniture design at the Katholieke Hogeschool Mechelen.
An internship at design firm Extremis provided further insight into the full course of a production process: from the first sketch to the final product.
In 2010, Mathias decided to start his own business. As an independent designer, he has worked for a variety of clients since then: from furniture manufacturers to a cookware company.
A collaboration with industrial designer Pieter Vanderhenst led to a couple of innovative, award-winning concepts.
In addition to furniture and products, Mathias has also designed a number of interiors for residential as well as commercial projects.
Added value is a simple but key principle in his design approach. What is a product used for? How can it improve someone’s daily life? Vital questions that lead to innovative ideas: from improving a small feature to rethinking an entire product category.
"A good cat cave reflects the characteristics of the natural environment. Perla is an organically shaped shelter that allows the cat to hide from its surrounding while being able to peep out."

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

If necessary, clean the frame by wiping it with a soft damp cloth. The Polypropylene Rope can be cleaned with water.
COVER
-The cover is machine washable at 60° C or can be dry cleaned. After washing, please let the cover air dry on a rack, and do not put it in the dryer. If needed, iron the fabric only at the lowest level (synthetic). -The fabric is easy to clean and very durable. Please brush off dirt and dust regularly, before it can penetrate deeper into the fabric, and remove stains immediately. For simple and uncomplicated cleaning in between, simply vacuum the surface of the cover with an upholstery brush.
INLETT
-The cushion filling is made of extremely soft, open cell foam. To retain the high quality of the product, the cushion should be cared for and cleaned accordingly. -Wash the inner cushion with a mild detergent up to 60° C. We do not recommend the use of chlorinated and chemically aggressive washing products. A brownish discoloration of the foam cannot be avoided, but has no effect on the quality of the foam.
-After washing and rinsing, please remove as much water as possible with the spin cycle. The inner cushion is best air-dried on a rack. It can also be tumble dried at 60° C, but please avoid over-drying. -Please plump up the inner cushion regularly so that it retains its fluffiness and shape. To keep the filling in place, knead the cushion intensely, then flatten it with your hands.
